FancyPants is FST’s flagship product. The multi-award winning platform includes a Ruthlessly Efficient(TM) optimised embedded run-time and SDK with comprehensive API for embedded application development. Demo videos and fully functional evaluation kit are accessed via www.fst.net.
Specialising in multilingual digital fonts, Arphic developed iFont®, color, personalized and dynamic fonts, as well as font technologies such as their “Mobile Font® and Layout Engine” engines for handling even the most complex of multilingual fonts, such as India, Thai, Arabic, etc., with minimal embedded hardware requirements.
Arphic will be demonstrating the combination at Booth D-44, ET Japan 2008, November 19 to 21, Pacifico Yokohama. For example, the eye-catching GUIcapabilities and the cutting-edge fontdisplay will be experienced via
Freescale MPC5121e at the booth. The event is the largest trade show and conference for embedded system designers and managers, with details at www.jasa.or.jp/et.http://www.fst.net/resources/press/pr.20081107.0.html
Arphic will also demonstrate FancyPants with Arphic fonts on the new Compal JAX10 Mobile Internet Device, featuring the Intel Atom processor. This raised a lot of interest during the Intel Developer Forum - San Francisco in August. "FST's expertise in envisioning and delivering the compelling 'FancyPants' GUI solution is impressive and we welcome them to the Intel MID ecosystem," said Pankaj Kedia, Director, Global Ecosystem Programs, Mobile Internet Devices, Intel Corporation.
These are initial outcomes of FST’s and Arphic’s joint research, development and marketing alliance under a Memorandum Of Understanding signed and announced June 25, 2008. The alliance benefits OEM/ODMs and end-users of consumer, commercial, industrial and medical devices, enabling eye-catching graphics and (optional) multimedia capabilities, intuitive multilingual interfaces, Ruthlessly Efficient(TM) hardware resource utilisation, reduced device costs, speed to market and portability.
FST and Arphic are working together for next generation GUI devices with multilingual font display, such as smart phones, portable media players, digital picture frames, TV set-top boxes, in-car telematics / infotainment, kiosks, building automation systems and medical devices. OEM/ODMs can quickly and easily differentiate themselves with feature-rich and high-performance devices for both low cost / high volume and niche international markets.
FST also offers the option of bundling custom embedded application consultancy, design and development services for leading OEM/ODMs, since 1995, with repeat customers such as Toshiba Corporation (Japan) and VeriFone International (USA).
“FST’s FancyPants enables breath-taking user interfaces, easily meets rigorous demands of embedded environments and is highly portable across chipsets. Arphic and FST also have strategic relationships with leading chipset, codec, browser, O.S. and microkernel vendors. We are confident in joint offerings,” said Grace Yang, CEO, Arphic.
“We’re thrilled to be supporting Arphic’s MobileFont technology in FancyPants, as they’ve both been developed specifically for enabling OEMs/ODMs to reach broader markets with innovative products and at reduced cost to the end user,” said Robi Karp, CEO, FST. |
