Arphic’s HiFont is based on VCFT (Very Compact
Font Technology) for which the company has many patents. Through
constant R&D improvements this has become a scalable font
rendering system used for printer and screen display functions,
making it the perfect partner for electronic devices that require
high quality, high functionality, low volume properties. |

HiFont products
have the following functions: |
| |
| 1. |
Uses Arphic Icon-based Font Technology for which it
has patents in many different countries |
| |
| |
The thickness of character strokes
can be modified. |
| |
Font size can be modified at will. |
| |
The font can be made outline, underlined or embossed
. |
| |
Uses two-D matrix operation to produce italics
or rotation. |
| |
| |
| 2. |
Provides shared use of different style font data and
a font structure compression function, so that where the
font does not change it takes up relatively little memory,
which in turn reduces ROM or Flash memory costs. |
| |
Traditional Chinese Big-5 Ming has
a font capacity of just 1MB. |
Japanese JIS X 0208 has a font capacity
of 600KB. |
| |
| |
| 3. |
The high quality grayscale or subpixel font function
directly creates a grayscale or color font from the outline
font data at the margin, which gives the font a smoother
and more attractive appearance, suitable for color LCD,
CRT and plasma television displays. |
| |
| |
| 4. |
Provides a font properties modification function that
can show the font as hollow, underlined or embossed, enhancing
product functions and increasing added value. |
| |
| |
| 5. |
| |
Has a stroke order direction display
and stroke direction write function. This provides
a stroke order font for Traditional and simplified
Chinese characters and Japanese kanjis, displaying
characters stroke by stroke in an animated fashion,
making it a perfect compliment for educational and
display devices. |
| |
| |
| 6. |
HiFont supports embedded bitmap for small point sizes,
so that the complicated Chinese characters can be displayed
clearly and easily read even on small font displays. This
overcomes the problem of the font being so small that
the strokes are too closely clustered together, making
the character appear unclear. |
| |
| |
| 7. |
Arphic can provide an embedded Linux system platform
with FreeType Library with an integrated HiFont function
or a Qtopia (QT/e) Plug-in for a systems developer to
integrate. |
| |
| |
| 8. |
